A US-based pro-nuclear partnership has received a $10m (€8.9m) philanthropic donation to build a “coherent and comprehensive roadmap” to get nuclear energy to the scale and pace needed to address climate change.
The donation from Joe Gebbia and Isabelle Boemeke to the Clean Air Task Force, the EFI Foundation and the Nuclear Threat Initiative will establish the Nuclear Scaling Initiative (NSI) – a collaborative effort to catalyse nuclear development through new research, multi-sector coalition- and capacity-building, policy advocacy and commercial facilitation.
Gebbia is an American designer, entrepreneur and co-founder of home rental company Airbnb. Boemeke is a Brazilian fashion model and social media personality. She is known for promoting the benefits of nuclear energy and its potential role in solving climate change.
