An agreement signed between South Korea’s SK Group and the company founded by Bill Gates that is developing a new generation nuclear power reactor includes the potential production of radioisotopes for medical applications.

TerraPower said in an email seen by NucNet that its agreement with SK subsidiaries SK Inc and SK Innovation, signed on 17 May, is in support of commercialising advanced reactor technologies.

The email also said the groups will also explore opportunities between TerraPower’s medical isotopes production capabilities and SK Group’s biopharmaceutical investment portfolio.
