Vietnam and South Korea’s leaders agreed to boost cooperation in nuclear energy at a meeting in Hanoi on 22 April including the possibility of the development and financing of a new nuclear plant for Hanoi.
In their second meeting since August, Vietnam’s president To Lam and South Korean counterpart Lee Jae Myung attended the signing of 12 non-binding documents, including on energy, technology and security cooperation.
Lee said that amid the current conflict in the Middle East, “the need for cooperation between our nations has grown even greater”.
The documents included plans to cooperate on nuclear power plant development and financing for Vietnam.
