US Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff have concluded there are no adverse environmental impacts to preclude the renewal of the Oconee nuclear station’s operating licences for an additional 20 years.
The recommendation is part of a final environmental impact statement (EIS) for the proposed subsequent licence renewal for all three reactor units at the station in South Carolina.
The EIS examines the environmental report submitted by Duke Energy Carolinas as part of its subsequent licence renewal application.
