The US Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL) have completed a multi-year programme to move spent highly enriched uranium (HEU) from the operation of research reactors from Canada to the US, a joint statement said.The HEU transfer was concluded in 2019, one year ahead of schedule, but completion was formally announced of 12 February 2020.
