The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) has sent an application letter to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a licence to build a micro modular reactor (MMR) at its campus for research and testing purposes.
Seattle-based microreactor developer Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC) said in a statement that it will be working with the University’s Grainger College of Engineering to deploy the new reactor.
