The UK will supply enriched uranium to Ukraine for its nuclear power stations and impose new sanctions against Russia, prime minister Keir Starmer said ahead of a G7 summit session.

Starmer vowed to “choke off” Russian revenue with further sanctions and to provide hundreds of millions of pounds worth of energy support for Ukraine, as he met world leaders in France for the G7.

A UK government statement said the move comes as G7 gets under way in Evian, France, with the first roundtable session focused on building peace and security for Ukraine and for Europe.

Starmer is expected to speak during the session, telling leaders that the G7 should collectively go further to ensure Ukraine secures the just and lasting peace it deserves.
