UK Startup Secures £23 Million In Bid To ‘Put Nuclear Fusion To Work’
UK-based startup Astral Systems is scaling up the production of its modular MSF reactors and advancing fusion research. Courtes Astral Systems.

Astral Systems, the UK company pioneering multi-state fusion (MSF) technology, has secured a £23m (€26m, $30m) investment that supports plans to put nuclear fusion to work in the near-term and run compact fusion reactors at full capacity by the end of 2026.

The Series A funding round was led by British venture capital firm Mercia Ventures and supported by prominent tech investors including Tees River, Daphni, and Blast Club, alongside previous investors Speedinvest and Playfair. It brings the total funding of Astral Systems to over £28m.

Astral Systems said the financing supports plans to put fusion to work now by using its proprietary multi-state fusion technology. This includes bringing critical medical radioisotopes to market by early 2027, scaling the production of its modular MSF reactors and advancing fusion research.
