Regular electricity production at the Olkiluoto-3 nuclear power plant under construction in western Finland has been delayed by 11 months to February 2022.

Power company Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) said on Friday it has received an updated schedule on the commissioning of the Generation III EPR unit from the supplier, the Areva-Siemens consortium.

According to the schedule fuel will be loaded into the reactor in March 2021, the unit will be connected to the grid in October of the same year, and regular electricity production starts in February 2022.

In December 2019 TVO said electricity production at Olkiluoto-3 was scheduled for March 2021. That was eight months later than the previous target of July 2020.
