Nearly 73% of US enriched uranium in 2023 originated abroad, from countries including Kazakhstan and Russia.
The goal of building US domestic uranium enrichment capacity to safeguard from disruptions should remain a priority, but despite the optimistic outlook, the jury is still out on whether these efforts are sustainable in the long run, analysis published by the US Atlantic Council thinktank has said.
