The French Nuclear Society (Sfen) said in an updated 30 January assessment of EDF’s new schedule for the start of operations at the Hinkley Point C nuclear plant under construction in southwest England that despite new delays to the plant’s start of operations, the UK continues to place its “full faith” in nuclear power.

EDF in an updated Hinkley Point C operations schedule released 24 January said that the start of operations at the plant would be delayed until at least the end of 2029 and that the cost of the plant had risen to between £31bn (€36.2bn, $38,9bn) and £34bn in 2015 money, or as much as £46bn in current money.
