The Western European Nuclear Regulators Association (Wenra) has published a new set of safety reference levels for existing research reactors after completing a project that began in 2017.

Wenra said there is a significant number of research reactors in operation in Wenra countries but until now these facilities had not been subject to a harmonisation process in terms of safety.
