The United Arab Emirates has issued an operating licence for the fourth and final unit at the Barakah nuclear power station – the first commercial nuclear facility in the Arab world.
The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) on Friday (17 November) announced the operating licence for Unit 4 had been granted to Nawah Energy Company, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation’s (Enec) subsidiary responsible for running the nuclear power station.
Nawah is licensed to operate Unit 4 for 60 years, FANR said in a statement.
