Regulator Approves Draft Report That Says Tsuruga-2 Cannot Be Restarted
Tsuruga-2, a 1,108 pressurised water reactor unit, began commercial operation in 1987.
Japan’s Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) has formally approved a draft report which recommended that Unit 2 at the Tsuruga nuclear power station in Fukui Prefecture, central Japan, does not meet stricter regulations imposed on the sector following the 2011 Fukushima disaster, a requisite to restart the facility.
