The joint Kazakh-Chinese Ulba-TVS nuclear fuel assembly plant has delivered a second batch of nuclear fuel assemblies, containing more than 30 tonnes of low-enriched uranium, to China, the press service of Kazatomprom national atomic company reported on 31 May.

The nuclear fuel was manufactured at the joint enterprise in Ust-Kamenogorsk in eastern Kazakhstan and was delivered to the Fangchenggang nuclear power station in southern China. There are three units in operation at Fangchenggang and one under construction.

The Ulba-TVS plant, a joint venture between Kazatomprom subsidiary UMP JSC, with 51%, and China’s CGNPC-URC, a subsidiary of China General Nuclear Power Group, with 49%, started operating in November 2021.

A first batch of nuclear fuel assemblies produced by Ulba-TVS was delivered to China in December 2022.
