Purdue University in the US state of Indiana has signed an agreement with nuclear components and fuel company BWX Technologies (BWXT) to advance research in nuclear manufacturing, small modular reactors (SMRs) and microreactors.
The US university also said the agreement covers research and development collaborations, workforce development, sharing of expertise and infrastructure, and support for the development of nuclear energy and manufacturing in the state of Indiana.
At the heart of the collaboration lies the Purdue University Reactor Number One, a digitally controlled research reactor which will be used to advance collaboration in SMRs and microreactors.
