Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko issued a decree extending a list of tax exemptions for the Belarusian nuclear power station until 31 December 2041, the country’s energy ministry said in a statement.
According to the decree, the two-unit station at Ostrovets, in western Belarus, will be exempt from real estate, land and income taxation with the goal to improve its “operating efficiency” until “credit obligations” are fulfilled.

The new rules will amend a presidential decree from 2013 which waivered real estate, land and income taxes for the Belarusian station for the period until it is brought into commercial operation.
Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom is the general contractor for two 1,109-MW VVER-1200 pressurised water reactor units at the Belarusian site close to the border with Lithuania.
Unit 1 has been completed and is in test operation mode, while Unit 2 in in a commissioning testing phase.
Construction of Belarusian-1 began in November 2013 and of the Belarusian-2 in April 2014.
The cost of the two units, largely funded by a loan from Russia, has been reported as $11bn (€9.3bn).
