Finland has advanced its efforts to begin the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel with the successful completion of the first stage of a trial run at Posiva’s Onkalo final repository for nuclear waste, the company said in a statement.
A full-system trial run at Onkalo began on 30 August 2024 to test all equipment and related systems working together for the first time.
