Poland’s state nuclear project company Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ) and a Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium have agreed on the terms of an engineering development agreement (EDA), paving the way for the next stage in the development of Poland’s first nuclear power station.

PEJ said the agreement will cover continued design and preparatory work at the planned site near the villages of Lubiatowo and Kopalino in the northern province of Pomerania.

The scope will include geological surveys and efforts to obtain regulatory approvals and permits needed for construction to begin.

PEJ said the EDA is expected to be signed following final corporate approvals.
