UK prime minister Boris Johnson will announce government plans to build small modular reactors in the northern English counties of Yorkshire, Cumbria, Lancashire and Cheshire in a £500m scheme, The Times has reported.The newspaper said Mr Johnson will make the announcement as part of a green energy speech at a summit in northern England on September 13. The newspaper also said the government will confirm funding next month for an SMR project led by Rolls-Royce.
