The operating licence for the United Arab Emirates’ first commercial nuclear power plant at Barakah could be issued in the first quarter of 2020, a senior official at the industry regulator said.According to Reuters, Christer Viktorsson, director-general of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR), said: “If nothing new happens, it could be in the first quarter of next year, we are working towards that.” Overall construction of the four units at Barakah is more than 93% complete, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation said.
