Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) announced that it is in the process of partnering with US fusion technology company Type One Energy and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville to establish a facility for the testing of materials to be used in nuclear fusion plants.
The high-heat flux facility (HHF) is planned at state power company Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) Bull Run Energy Complex in Clinton, Tennessee.
TVA is transforming the retired Bull Run fossil plant into the Bull Run Energy Complex, a hub for clean energy innovation. Key projects include an existing partnership with Type One Energy for the first Infinity Two stellarator fusion power plant, which it being developed TVA.
