NucNet Launches Global Small Modular And Advanced Reactor Database

NucNet has launched a global database for subscribers of small modular reactors (SMRs) and advanced nuclear reactors that are under development and potentially moving towards deployment.

The NucNet Small Modular and Advanced Reactor Database is a one-stop online reference source for data on these new reactor technologies, which are gaining attention both within the nuclear industry and beyond as the world looks for low-carbon solutions to the problems of climate change and energy security.

Designs for these reactors are at various stages of development and the landscape is evolving.

The database brings together key information about SMRs and advanced reactors under development and approaching deployment and – for further background and context – includes links to relevant NucNet news coverage of the SMR and advanced reactor industry.

Data includes reactors under development by country, reactor type, size, output, fuel type, and the design or licensing stage they have reached. The database includes search tools so users can look up reactors using different parameters such as country and type.

The information in the database has been taken from three main sources: the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Advanced Reactor Information System (ARIS) database, the Paris-based OECD Nuclear Energy Agency’s SMR Dashboard and NucNet’s own research and reporting database.

The database is for NucNet subscribers so you will need your login details for access. It is a valuable resource for nuclear industry professionals, policymakers, researchers, educators and anyone interested in the development and deployment of advanced nuclear reactors and their potential role in future energy landscapes.

The database is still in beta development before its official rollout in early 2025. The team is continually updating and improving the database and online interface.
