In order to strengthen Britain’s energy security and reduce its exposure to volatile global gas prices, the government is firmly committed to deploying new nuclear, as seen through the construction of Hinkley Point C, business and energy secretary Kwasi Kwarteng said in a post on business network LinkedIn.

After a visit to the two new EPR plants under construction in Somerset, England, Mr Kwarteng said the UK government recognises that large-scale nuclear is the only technology available to provide continuous, low carbon electricity at scale.
