Switzerland’s nuclear operators are considering keeping nuclear plants in use longer than previously expected over fears of electricity shortages.

Despite a long tradition of nuclear power production, Switzerland voted in 2017 to no longer allow construction of new nuclear power plants. However, there is no clear timetable for shutdowns and its four nuclear plants can remain operational as long as deemed safe.
