State-owned Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PPEJ), the company responsible for the implementation of the project to build Poland’s first commercial nuclear power station, has submitted the environmental report for two sites to the General Directorate for Environmental Protection (GDOS).

PPEJ said the report is one of the most important elements of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure. It contains the results of “a comprehensive campaign of studies and analyses” conducted at two nuclear power plant locations in Pomerania, northern Poland.

The sites are Lubiatowo-Kopalino and Żarnowiec. Both were mentioned as potential locations for new nuclear as early as 2014.
