US-based medical isotopes supplier TAG1 has entered into a multi-year partnership with NRG Pallas in the Netherlands to secure a critical supply of radium-224 for the production of lead-212 (Pb-212) isotope.

The agreement aims to strengthen the supply chain for innovative radiopharmaceutical cancer treatments, including targeted alpha therapies, which hold great promise for treating tumours that have been traditionally difficult to target.

Under the agreement, TAG1 and NRG Pallas will collaborate to produce critical isotopes including radium-224 and its daughter isotope, Pb-212, which is increasingly recognised for its role in targeted alpha therapies, a cancer treatment that uses radioactive substances to destroy cancer cells while minimising damage to healthy cells.
