No Reason To Change Location Of First Nuclear Power Station, Ministry Says
US company Westinghouse is to supply its AP1000 reactor technology for a three-unit nuclear power station at Lubiatowo-Kopalino.

Poland’s ministry of climate and the environment does not see any grounds for changing the location of the first Polish nuclear power station proposed for the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site on the Baltic coast in the northern province of Pomerania.

The ministry said in a statement on 18 January that the siting decision issued in July 2023 after years of work is final.

The statement warned that any change of location would mean starting the process from scratch, delaying the investment schedule by up to 10 years.

Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ), the state-owned company responsible for the management of the nuclear station project, obtained key environmental and siting decisions in September and October 2023 from Poland’s general directorate for environmental protection (GDOŚ) and the provincial authorities in Pomerania.
