Negotiations are continuing with China over a final contract for the project
The construction of two new reactor units at the Cernavodă nuclear station in Romania could bring €3bn into the local equipment industry, which would represent 40% of the total cost projection of the two units, according to Teodor Chirica, the former general manager of national nuclear company Nuclearelectrica and president of European nuclear industry association Foratom.The Romanian website Cotidianul quoted Mr Chirica as saying the revival of the project would bring prosperity to the country’s supply chain because of the potential size of equipment orders.
