In what is being seen in Seoul as a significant step forward, a Czech negotiation team is due to begin a visit to South Korea for two weeks from 11 November as part of plans to build two new nuclear plants at the Dukovany nuclear site in the Czech Republic.
Press reports in South Korea said a negotiation team consisting of about 60 members will visit state-owned Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) headquarters in Gyeongju, the Saeul nuclear power station and Doosan Enerbility headquarters in Changwon, all in the southeast of the country.
At Saeul there are two APR-1400 nuclear plants in operation and two under construction. The APR-1400 is likely to be the same technology planned for Dukovany. Doosan Enerbility, formally Dusan Heavy Industries, is a major engineering company that provides nuclear components and would be heavily involved in the Dukovany project.
