A French company seeking to develop a small modular reactor that could be deployed from the start of the next decade is collaborating with the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the Université Paris-Saclay to create a research laboratory dedicated to molten salt reactor chemistry.
Paris-based Naarea, founded in 2000, said the aim is for the centre to become a European leader in the field.
The laboratory will combine 20 years of CNRS expertise in molten salt reactor chemistry with Naarea’s technological expertise in materials, neutronics, safety analysis, materials and fuel data.
