Advanced nuclear power company Moltex Energy Canada says it has “significantly derisked” an innovative process that aims to use recycled nuclear waste as fuel.

The New Brunswick-based company said rigorous experiments had demonstrated the viability of its innovative “waste to stable salt” (Watss) process.

The experiments were carried out using simulated fuel made of uranium dioxide and cerium oxide proportional to levels found in spent nuclear fuel.
