Uganda’s energy ministry has estimated that almost 4,000 personnel will be required to develop the country’s first commercial nuclear power plant, local press reports said. The personnel will be needed from the pre-project phase through to commissioning.

According to a government technical paper on nuclear development, Uganda is planning to set up a specialised nuclear energy institute with training facilities.

Russia and China ae interested in building a nuclear plant in Uganda and would be asked to build the institute as part of any agreement, the New Vision daily said.
