The main opposition candidate in South Korea’s presidential elections scheduled for March 2022 has promised to export nuclear reactors to eastern Europe and the Middle East and resume construction of two units at Shin-Hanul, reports said.
Yoon Suk-yeol said he will export 10 nuclear power plants by 2030 if elected, as he continued to criticise the current president Moon Jae-in’s nuclear phaseout policy.
According to the Yonhap news agency, Mr Yoon said he would complete construction of Shin-Hanul-3 and -4 in the southeast of the country. Work on the two plants has been suspended since 2017 under the nuclear phaseout policy.
