A study by maritime services organisation Lloyd’s Register (LR) in conjunction with South Korean shipping and logistics companies has shown the feasibility of using small modular reactors (SMRs) to power a large vehicle transporter.

LR said that it continued to work on the joint development project researching how a molten salt reactor (MSR) could be used to power a large ship used to transport cars and other vehicles, called a pure car and truck carrier (PCTC).
