Sweden-based small modular reactor (SMR) project development company Kärnfull Next has submitted the country’s first application under proposed new legislation governing approval of nuclear facilities, with plans for a small modular reactor project in the south of the country.

Kärnfull Next said the application covers a proposed "SMR park" in Valdemarsvik and has been submitted to the government under the recently proposed Act on Government Approval of Nuclear Facilities.
