Brussels-based nuclear industry group nucleareurope has called for the EU’s Industrial Accelerator Act to use flexible “Made in EU” criteria for nuclear new-build projects instead of component-based rules.
The group said in a position paper that nuclear projects are “large strategic” developments involving many components and subcomponents, long delivery timelines and strict safety requirements.
It said a component-based approach would not fully reflect the complexity of nuclear new-build projects.
