The R. M. Schahfer coal plant in the US state of Indiana emerged as the most feasible site for “coal-to-nuclear” conversion in a study published in the journal Energy Reports.

R.M. Schahfer was first among sites with the potential of small electric capacity from advanced reactors generating 1,000 MW or less.

The study, which categorised 245 operational coal plants in the US, concluded that the AES Petersburg plant in Indiana was top-ranked among the larger electric capacity sites, having generation capacity greater than 1,000 MW.
