Agency team reports hearing explosions and machine gun fire
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) staff reported hearing loud blasts near Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station on Sunday (5 January), coinciding with reports of a drone attack on the plant’s training centre, marking yet another threat to nuclear safety at Europe’s largest commercial nuclear facility, IAEA director-general Rafael Grossi said.
