Hot Functional Testing Complete At China’s Zhangzhou-2 Nuclear Plant

Hot functional testing has been completed at Unit 2 of the Zhangzhou nuclear power station under construction in Fujian province, eastern China.

Hot functional testing is carried out to verify the operation of reactor components and systems together and confirm the reactor is ready for the loading of fuel.

Zhangzhou-2 is a 1,126-MW domestic Hualong One, or HPR1000, pressurised water reactor (PWR) unit. Construction began in September 2020.
