14 Mar (NucNet): Hot function tests have been completed at Unit 1 of the Fuqing nuclear power station under construction in Fujian province, southeast China, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has said.
The tests lasted for 21 days and were completed on 5 March, CNNC said.
CNNC also announced that pressure and leak-tightness tests have been completed at Fuqing-2.
The Fuqing site has four CPR-1000 pressurised water reactors under construction.
Unit 1 was the first to begin construction and was scheduled to be commercially operational by November 2013, CNNC has said. The company has not given reasons for the delay.
According to CNNC, Unit 2 is scheduled to begin commercial operation in September 2014.
