US-based nuclear company Holtec International has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the State of Utah and nuclear services provider Hi Tech Solutions for the potential deployment of its small modular reactor, the SMR‑300, in Utah and across the US Mountain West*, the company said.
Under the memorandum of understanding, Holtec and Hi Tech will develop a permanent training centre in Utah by 2028 to build a workforce in operations, maintenance, and advanced nuclear technologies.
