Hexana and Tractebel have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in promoting nuclear-based cogeneration and to spearhead the creation of a dedicated small modular reactor (SMR) and advanced modular reactor (AMR) cogeneration task force.
A statement said the task force will be set up within Cogen Europe, the Brussels-based association for the promotion of cogeneration.
It said nuclear-based cogeneration can be “a key solution” for industrial decarbonisation, energy system resilience and efficiency across Europe.
The task force will bring together stakeholders from the nuclear, industrial and cogeneration sectors in a bid to increase recognition of nuclear cogeneration as a cornerstone of Europe’s clean and competitive energy future.
