US companies TAE Technologies and Black Moon Energy Corporation (BMEC) have signed an agreement to support the future commercialisation of fusion power through a prospective helium-3 (He-3) fuel supply option and commercial development collaboration.

Under the terms of the agreement, BMEC would supply He-3 fuel to TAE.

He-3 is a light isotope of helium that TAE sees as one possible fuel for its fusion technology.

Securing a potential supplier now could help the company address one of the challenges of commercial fusion: developing a reliable fuel supply alongside the reactors themselves.
