In a bid to make India a global player in nuclear power sector, the government is considering plans to allow foreign direct investment in nuclear energy, press reports said,The Economic Times of India said the decision would represent “a paradigm shift” in India's nuclear power policy and open the gates for multinational companies to invest in the country’s nuclear projects.The Department of Atomic Energy has already held talks with the prime minister’s office and sought legal opinion on whether direct foreign investment can be allowed in the nuclear sector, the newspaper said.
