The contract is for five years, with an option for a further three years, and was awarded by France’s state-owned nuclear operator EDF. GDES did not say how much the contract was worth.
GDES said it is now responsible for maintenance services at 12 reactors out of the 56 that are in commercial operation in France. The Blayais and Civaux stations, which have a total of six reactors between them, have been added to a maintenance portfolio which includes the St. Laurent, Bugey, Cruas and Tricastin stations.
The services to be carried out under this contract will focus on the maintenance of the special surfaces and coatings required for the exterior and interior areas of the reactors. These tasks are essential to guarantee the correct maintenance of buildings and structures, protecting the plant against erosion and corrosion.
