French advanced reactor developer Stellaria has submitted an application to the French authorities for the potential construction of a demonstrator nuclear installation, a statement said.
The company said the application, known as DAC (demande d’autorisation de création) covers the siting and construction of its Alvin prototype, a fast-neutron molten salt reactor designed to validate Stellaria’s technology through a full test programme.
The submission sets out the main technical, safety and environmental principles of the project.
Stellaria said it is the first French startup working on fast-neutron reactors to submit a DAC for a “basic nuclear installation”.
