French energy giant EDF is “actively engaged” in ensuring local industrial participation in a proposed project to build six of its 1,600-MW EPR units in India, according to Jean-Bernard Lévy, the company’s chairman.
Mr Lévy told the Indian Economic Times that “significant potential” exists for the Indian supply chain, with 200 companies already identified in the engineering and procurement sector and dozens in the process of obtaining qualifications for the project.
In April 2021, state-controlled EDF said it had made a binding offer to build six EPR units at the Jaitapur site in the Maharashtra region of western India.
