France’s Framatome and US-based General Atomics have started cooperation on studying the application of silicon carbide in nuclear fuel designs for boiling water reactors (BWR). Framatome said that advanced nuclear fuel designs which use silicon carbide in the fuel channel can enhance the safety and fuel performance of nuclear power plants.
