A first batch of nuclear fuel assemblies produced by the Ulba-TVS facility in Kazakhstan has been delivered to China, Kazakh state-owned uranium company Kazatomprom said.
The Ulba-TVS plant, a joint venture between Kazatomprom subsidiary UMP JSC, with 51%, and China’s CGNPC-URC, a subsidiary of China General Nuclear Power Group, with 49%, started operating in November 2021.
The plant’s construction began in 2009 at the site of Kazatomprom’s existing Ulba Metallurgical Plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk in the east of Kazakhstan.
